In his forth-coming movie December Boys Daniel Radcliffe plays as an
orphan once again.

soldier in 'My Boy Jack’
Daniel Radcliffe, the boy wizard in the Harry potter series who turned 18
last month stars in the World War One film named 'My Boy Jack' where he
trades his school uniform for the rather more mature attire of the Irish
Guards.
Daniel Radcliffe is very much like Harry Potter!
Daniel Radcliffe and his similarity with the character Harry Potter never
seems to end.

Daniel Jacob Radcliffe is an English born
stage, television and film actor and is best known for his
titular role in the Harry Potter film series. Daniel was born
in July 23, 1989 in Fulham, London. His father is Alan
Radcliffe a literary agent and his mother Marcia Gresham is a
casting agent. Her other worked as a casting agent for many BBC
films including ‘The inspector Lynely Mysteries’, ‘Walk away
and I stumble’. Daniel is the only child. He loves pets and he
has two dogs namely Binka and Nugget.
He used to visit film sets and ever since he was a child he
wanted to act in movies. Thanks to his mothers casting agent
job, he got an opportunity to play David Copperfield in BBC’s
televised two-part version of Charles Dickens novel David
Copperfield.
He had a taste for acting from very early childhood and his
parents were very supportive and they encouraged him in their
best way possible. Although he made his debut in TV by playing
a strong character like David Copperfield in a BBC movie, it
was the role of Harry Potter, which brought him all the fame
and elevated into a position where he is now.
The role of Harry Potter has completely remolded his life and
image. It put him into the list of one of the most popular
actors in the whole world and most importantly he became the
friend of every child in the world who loved the Harry Potter
book series.
And in August 2000 he was selected to play Harry Potter in the
Harry Potter film series. He got this role after number of
auditions and he worked real hard to get it. Later that year he
starred in the first Harry Potter movie called ‘Harry Potter
and the Philosopher's Stone’ (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's
Stone in the US). And latter he appeared in other Harry Potter
movies like Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets (2002),
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter
and the Goblet of Fire (2005) and the next Harry Potter movie
named Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix is all set to
release in July 13, 2007.
Daniel made his first movie appearance in 2001 as a supporting
actor alongside Pierce Brosnon in ‘The tailor of Panama’.
Now he is assigned to play Harry Potter in the upcoming movies
in of the series and ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’
is scheduled to release in 2008 and also the last film in the
series ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ is expected in
2010.
In one of his first interviews after landing the role,
Radcliffe said he'd tried reading the first book in the Potter
series a few years earlier, but gave up only partway through.
In 2006, he began to make the transition from child to adult
actor, and he appeared in a television series ‘Extras’ and in
an independent Australian drama called ‘December boys’. He also
played a boy who has an obsession with horses in a revival of
Peter Shaffer's play ‘Equus’. The role generated significant
media hype, as Radcliffe appears nude in one scene in the play.
He also signed to play the role of Jack Kipling, the son of
Rudyard Kipling for an ITV drama ‘My Boy Jack’.
At the age of sixteen he became the youngest non-royal to have
an individual portrait in Britons national portrait gallery.
He achieved his AS levels from the City of London School. He
achieved three a grades in all three AS levels in 2006 and with
this he decided to take a break from the education.
Apart from acting, he loves to watch movie and two of his most
favorite films are "12 Angry Men", and "What's Eating Gilbert
Grape". He has a very strong admiration for "indie" music bands
such as The Pixies, The Clash, and The Sex Pistols. Daniel
plays bass guitar and he learned it from Gary Oldman.
Daniel appeared in the British young people's rich list in
2007, which placed him as the thirty-third richest young people
in the UK. And his estimated wealth was 17 million pounds.
Daniel has been a great supporter of charity works and he
supports various charities like Demelza House Children's
Hospice in Sittingbourne, Kent, to which he has requested fans
make donations in lieu of sending him birthday presents. He
also supports the research of autism. His t-shirt was part of
the Tsunami Celebrity Clothes Auction, which raised money for
the Rebuilding Sri Lanka Organization.
In 2001 he won Male Youth Discovery of the Year award by
Hollywood Women's Press Club. And in 2002 he was elected as
person of the year by Time for kids. In 2004 RTL Television,
Germany selected him amongst the top 10 child stars. In 2006 he
won best actor award in Belgium cine awards and an Otto award
for best male film star.
Daniel is very young and he has already achieved the kind of
popularity and worship that other actors of his age can only
dream about. And with stunning performances like in the Equus,
he keeps on getting better. |
